BREEDING OCICATS
On this page I present something about Washable breeding,
my own ocicats and also the cats which I´ve bought for breeding and
which co-owners I have been.
About breeding
Before breeding Ocicats I bred one Maine Coon litter, "Red
Indian". When I was planning to breed Maine Coons, it was very easy to choose this funny Cattery name: Washable. Maine Coons are so interested in playing with water, and at least they have to
be washed before the shows. So they have to be washable.
Maine Coons are lovely cats, but anyhow I felt that Ocicats as short haired
cats would be more "my own breed". I also felt that the time and resources for breeding two very
different breeds were not enough.
From the beginning I started breeding Ocicats for real. I bought in total
10 Ocicats for breeding during 1998-2001. I imported three of them from USA, I bought two as an adult and two kittens here in Finland and besides them
I have
kept or placed three own kittens for breeding. I used only four of these cats
in our breeding program, and I leased two of our males to our breeding friends,
as I did not have a chance to use them in own breeding program.
I am very proud of all of 32 beautiful and wonderful by nature kittens!

PR EC Galax Apala "Palma"
The
dam of Purr Now, True Jewel and el Gato litters
Sire: CH Kuttoneth New York Ranger
Dam: GIC, CFA-GC Galax Moon Dancer
Palma
is not the wildest of ocicats but as a compensation she is extremely aware of
her own beauty and her all embracing excellence. Nobody can miss this soulful
creature's unique art of presenting herself or her - sometimes rather subdued -
ability to take part in everything.

IC Washable True Pearl "Elmeri"
Elmeri is the energetic mom of Smiley
litter
Sire: EC Galax Pink Floyd
Dam: PR EC Galax Apala
Elmeri has a lot of activities, a case of mouse pointer on the net, bringing the balls and hunting
butterflies. Actually she seems to hunt them during the winters too,
and it does not matter if they found to be just some little points on the walls
or screen ;)

IP Auxarcs Web Love of Washable "Webby"
Sire: GC RW Synareo Big Man in Town
Dam: CH Auxarcs Wind Storm
Webby is my first import from USA. I thought to use her in breeding too, but unfortunately her bite did not
develope
as we hoped it to do.
Webby is the most lovably gentle and trusting cat. She reacts to every new situation with a friendly, open mind.
CH Washable El Gato Macho "Pedro"
Pedro is the sire of one litter in Old-Indian
Cattery
Sire: PR CH Saga Firecracker of Osix
Dam: PR EC Galax Apala
El Gato Macho is Spanish and means a real male or simply a male cat.
Pedro is Palma´s and Veeti´s son, and it is easy obcerved :) He is such a proud
adorable charming young man, who is flirting all the time with us.
At the same time he can play a bit playboy´ish which is most important thing in his life to
charm our females.

Moonstream Carmen "Menna"
14.2.2000
- 23.9.2004
Sire: Galax Oberon
Dam: Martinic Karma Chameleon
Menna was our dear beloved "Joker in the pack", we dearly miss her!
In february 2003 Menna became ill, she got an autoimmune skindisease called pemphigus
foliaceus. I have pictures of her illness' stages in her own 'horrorgallery'. Those
pictures, were mostly taken before the diagnosis was confirmed from skin biopsy (and therefore the medication was not strong
enough), are pretty much shocking.
After the disease was diagnosed, she did not need to suffer. She had almost year and half happy feline life, before the disease and heavy cortisone medication took
over. It was time to say farewell.
Rest in peace Menna!

PR CH Saga Firecracker of Osix "Veeti"
The
sire of Smiley- ja El Gato –litters
4.7.2000
- 2006
Sire: GC, RW Saga San Rio
Dam: Saga Ranchers Daughter
Ocicat breeding-wise the most significant was our import together with Saila
Tiainen (Osix Cattery) from California.
Veeti is sire of our Smiley and El Gato litters, and besides them he has
kittens at his home Osix
Cattery, and also in catteries Kisulin, Anórien´s
and Manchitas.

Veeti's offsprings (picture galleries will open on

IC Auxarcs Splendid Tricks of Washable "Oiva"
Oiva
has beautiful kittens in Old-Indian
and Anórien´s
catteries.
born 1.4.2001
Sire: GC, RW Auxarcs Hunk of Burning Love
Dam: Auxarcs She´s So High
My own American Dream, male with fantastic pattern and contrast, arrived in
Finland from Arkansas in 11.9.2001.
I had plans to breed him with couple of our own females, but the
Destiny was different, and unfortunately I had no chance to breed them.
Kuttoneth Walking After Midnight "Patsy"
Patsy is the mom of our "Never"
litter
Sire: GIC Galax Midnight Cowboy
Dam: CH Kuttoneth Gamma Rae, DM
We bought Patsy as an adult breeding female from Galax when they were
closing the cattery. Patsy had litters in Galax Cattery and she is also the dam
of one litter in Embrace Cattery.
Galax Ding Dong "Saara"
Sire: EC Galax Power Ranger
Dam: EP EC Galax Winter Queen
Saara was seven months old when I bought her from Galax. Later we noticed
her under bite, so we did not want kittens from her.
Washable Purr Now Say Later, "Jäppinen"
Sire: Auxarcs Arkansas Traveler
Dam: PR EC Galax Apala
Although Jäppinen has a small white marks between his pads, I decided to place him to
my friend as a breeding male. He looks handsome and I was such unexperienced
breeder, and thought that perhaps he could produce some nice kittens.
Later, when I wasn´t so newbie anymore, and have seen it so many times, that we can
get a lot of white marks even if we breed not with those cats which have some
white themselves.
And so... Jäppinen has no offsprings.
